Financial Policy of Asha Kiran Society

Asha Kiran Society was set up with the intent of providing holistic care to the poor primarily in Lamtaput Block, such an endeavor obviously needing financial resources. It was envisaged that the support for the same would be raised without making any public appeal, borrowing from outside sources or applying for project funders for the sake of funding.

The fundamental understanding about financial resources is that all resources belongs to God and he provides according to the needs of work. It has been a principle that has been tested and proved over the years in the life of Asha Kiran Society. The Hospital is a main source of generating income for the organization but as it mainly caters to the Health needs of the tribal population it is barely self sustaining itself. It works with the motto of not turning away any patient on the basis that they do not have money to pay. The sacrificial giving of friends and supporters most of whom have visited the place and seen first hand the work undertaken here has gone a long way in sustaining the work. Funded Projects are undertaken for specific projects that are considered necessary to further the mission of Asha Kiran Society. The funded projects have been initiated by well wishers who have recommended Asha Kiran Society to the funding agencies. AKS would recive support for the need and she would make sure it is not driven by donors.

The most important resource for any organisatoin is its Human Resource. The organisation may have enough of other resources but if it does not have people to handle its other resources the organization cannot live up to its potential. Financial resources are also an important resource for any organization. An organization can be defined by how it handles its resources. It can use it for a larger good or it can be used for the self interest of a few people. History will decide how Asha Kiran has been as an organization in handling its resources- Did we make a difference in the communities that we worked with? Were the resources that the organization had used wisely or was it spend frivolously.

Having said that Financial resources are very important for an organization what are the underlying principles regardung finances for AKS. It may have been expressed in various forums but it is very important to reiterate it again.

We at Asha Kiran Society believe that we as an organization do not exist to profit. Profit is not a bad thing. It is profit from an enterprise that is reinvested for further research & development that gives new products to the market. We are here to serve and make a diiference in the lives of people through our work here. Having seen the effect that money has on people and organizations we have stood by some principle that have stood for the last seventeen years.

  • We believe that all resources belong to God and that he provides for us according to our needs.
  • We will not solicit for funds through any means
  • We will not bribe any person or office for getting what is rightly due for us.- We believe that God will work in the hearts of people to act on our behalf.
  • We will not seek Projects for the sake of Projects. We will do programs based on the needs of the Community around. The Projects that we have had have come due to the recommendations made by our well wishers.
  • When people ask for our needs we let it known to people who are genuinely interested in the work. We have tested these principles in the last sixteen years and have found that they have stood the test of time.
