In general the Health & Development Committees (HDCs) are formed and strengthened in the villages to address the developmental issues of their own villages since 1998. In 2000 it was a clear direction based on the need to focus on the Socio-economic development of the BPL community of Lamtaput block. Hence we started involving ourselves in this aspect with the main goal to meet the socio-economic needs of the poor people, irrespective of caste, creed or community with the following objectives.
Although women remain the prime focus, as she is the key player of the developmental process in this region, yet we are looking increasingly at socio-economic development for the whole family.
Now there are 141 SHGs are promoted by CSU of Asha Kiran Society, out of which 121 are women SHGs. All the SHGs are linked with the Govt. federation and local banks for their further economical development. This movement has given incredible change in the social status of women in the community. The journey is on with many success stories along with the challenges to sustain the core values and ethos of the group or collective efforts.
